The Chinese government has cut import duties on 1,449 products across 1,011 categories. The reductions are aimed more at consumer staples than luxury goods and do not appear to have a specific international trade-relations angle.  The cuts were equivalent to a reduction in duties to 7% from 15% and are worth $5.1 billion to Chinese consumers on the basis of $64.3 billion of imports in the 12 months to February 2018. The most valuable individual products are bakery doughs ($633 million of duty cuts) and mineral water ($282 million) while the largest broad categories are food / beverage...
