A magnitude 6.1 earthquake in Osaka was the largest to hit the Japanese region in decades. That has reportedly disrupted factory operations and has the potential to cause problems for supply chains, though so far permanent damage to commercial facilities hasn’t been reported. The largest shippers from the region to the U.S. include Marubeni’s shipments of woodpulp (48% by number of transactions in the past 12 months) and Nakanishi Metal (7%) exports of ball bearings.
