U.S. sales of cars and light trucks fell by 0.1% on a year earlier in July on a SAAR basis with sales of imported vehicles rising 4% due to a 24% surge in SUV and light trucks sales. That far outpaced the 1% decline in sales of domestically produced cars and trucks and will likely reinforce the Trump administration’s determination to proceed with the section 232 review of the industry.
