Freight forwarder C.H. Robinson has advised its customers that surcharges will be applied for drayage services at the ports of Los Angeles, Long Beach and New York as capacity is “presently insufficient to satisfy demand due to vessel bunching and increased volumes in recent months”. Shipments into the ports handled by C.H. Robinson surged in September with imports to LA and Long Beach combined up by 31.3% year over year while those to New York rose by 38.6% higher to reach a record high.
