Welspun, Aurobindo face bitter pill as MSC takes bigger bite of Indian shipping

MSC has put a $250 per container shipping surcharge in place for India-to-U.S. services due to the “current deficit of equipment”. That may draw the ire of the Indian government, as similar rate increases by most other liners have done in China and South Korea. The largest user of MSC’s India-to-U.S. service in the 12 months to Oct. 31 was Welspun with 2,580 TEUs of U.S. imports linked to the firm after a 162.6% increase in the three months to Oct. 31.
