The U.S. Commerce Department has ended its national security tariff review into imports of mobile cranes. The complainant, Manitowoc, cited “a changing economic environment due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic” in its request to end the review. Panjiva’s data shows imports of the mobile cranes covered by the case fell by 39.9% year over year in Q3’20. The case was unlikely to proceed under a Biden administration anyway given it covered shipments from allies Germany and Japan, including those by Liebherr and Tadano.
