The EU and U.S. have signed an agreement to suspend bilateral tariffs applied as part of a dispute over aerospace subsidies for five years. The two will instead tackle “non-market practices of third parties that may harm their respective large civil aircraft industries”, likely to be directed at China’s development of the Comac C919. That resolves just one of several trade irritants between the two, with U.S. section 232 duties on steel and aluminum yet to be resolved.
